The two ER attendings with tears in their eyes who came into my ER bay to tell me, a healthy physician with nagging LLQ pain that my pain was not the diverticulitis I sold the medical student and ER resident on but carcinomatosis with liver mets probably Stage IV ovarian cancer. As an ER diagnosis. The work is humbling whether you are a physician or a patient or both. Thank you for this.

Best column ever.

We are all different.

And the same.

We’re trying to do our best.

We trust you to do the same.

As a human, studied in how to best help.

Not as a shill for the latest shiny thing.

Not blindly‘following the protocol’.

But using your judgement and experience and ongoing learning.

THANK YOU!
