Listen Dr. Prasad. This article is correct and deserved. But, the greater target for this sort of satire is really from the administration that employed you. An archmair cardiologist speculating about death and morbidity in the NYT of a patient's whose diagnostics he does not know of and has never assessed -- is wrong, many of us know that. But, the outright lies, pseudoscience (Testosterone surveillance in the military!) and ACTUAL POLICY that is being given out by the corrupt liars and crooks in this admin is so very much extra harmful. You got real fish to fry versus this cardiologist who is (statistically) a rare liberal for that field too.
In Emergency Medicine, we do indulge in “doorway diagnosis” when a patient comes in. But we are dealing with real patients in real time, not internet diagnoses concocted by political Booster Clubs.
(Doorway diagnosis) “She is walking like she has a ruptured ovarian cyst” to (reality) “Her ovarian cyst is not ruptured but she has an appy”
(Doorway diagnosis) “I’m guessing his BAL (blood alcohol level) is between 350 and 450” to (reality) “His BAL is 525 and he is still talking! A professional who will be here for the next several shifts sobering up”
(Doorway diagnosis) “She is vomiting like marijuana gastritis” to (reality) “The marijuana is a factor, but she is also taking Ozempic, and has acute cholecystitis”
Love a good fisking excellent satire I an.always stunned when a Physician decides to offer detailed diagnosis or innuendo disguised as diagnosis on a patient they've never seen in person let alone examined
The respondent to my comment went directly to the position of political orientation. The whole purpose of the satire is directed at the inappropriatenesses of acting as medical authority when there is no justification. One cannot adjudicate unless in possession of necessary information. We all agree. What the hell does that have to do with whether Trump or Biden administrations were more dishonest? Please let’s above the ignorant political name calling.
