Another of My Favorite Studies
I’ll start this post by stating my biases. First, I have no moral issues with the use of illicit substances. As they say, I have no dog in that fight. I do have dog in the healthcare fight and spend a lot of time advising people away from habits that I know are not good for them. Don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol to excess, don’t text and drive, don’t eat processed foods, and on and on. Second, as I have said before, I love a good Scandinavian observational study. Third, I am very interested in this topic. It sometimes seems like my last three years on our inpatient general medicine service has gone from “all COVID all the time” to “all the downstream effects of substance abuse all the time.” This at the time when I feel like we are beginning a huge, poorly designed, observational study of cannabis exposure.
