That's not my point. My point was that juries consider evidence about the guilt of the defendant being tried, without discounting it for the police having considered other suspects. Evidence needs to be interpreted with regard to current and background evidence of the one defendant.

Well the fact that police looked at other suspects is called exculpatory evidence and is admissible to raise reasonable doubt, and MUST BE considered by the jury.

Prosecution also MUST disclose to other side that other suspects were considered and investigated. Failure to do so may result in overturning conviction.
