But do you plan to reflect more on your own experience inside the current administration?
You have written extensively about the failures of academia, public health, the media, and medicine, much of it fairly. Yet you also had the rare opportunity to move from critic to participant. How did that change your perspective? Did you learn about the limits of criticism once you were closer to the decisions being made?
I say this respectfully, but I have not seen much humility come through in your writing yet. I think readers would benefit from hearing what you learned.
I am sending more patients to other physicians now than I did in practice . No one can get in a timely manner. The system of “phone a friend “ is the only way around. It is substantially worse since Covid. A patient was seen in urgent care with a laceration of the thumb.. Tendons were cut. They stopped bleeding; wrapped it and gave him a list of hand surgery docs to call the next morning (Friday). Want to guess the outcome? Eventually called me and I called trauma ER who of course immediately saw the patient and had orthopedic on call (not hand) at least close the wound.. totally insane.. even with resources being seen is difficult. I personally hired 40 docs in the city and I pay for a concierge access. If spouse has a UTI symptoms and want to get a culture first-its an ER visit unless I bother by text a pcp friend….. no chance if you call as a “regular “ person. It’s a war zone
Jha is trotted out whenever the media wants to make a point. That is usually how incompetent HHS is now and to reinforce that with spreading fear. Jha is no expert except in telling the MSM what they want to hear.
Universities, of which Jha is a department head, are rife with political bias dressed up as expertise. Oiy!
Unfortunately, the mainstream media carries this ideologic viewpoint into almost any subject, especially when it is related to the current president. As to health care the blatant disregard for the truth or searching for the truth has continued. They have ample ammunition with the poor research and profit seeking of most medical centers(university and large health systems) giving them a tainted outlook. It is refreshing to read Sensible Medicine and other authors who strive to get out the truth and disseminate it to all of us.
In an era that lacks accountability, I love that Dr. Prasad and Sensible Medicine always keep receipts and will approach topics beyond the narrow lens that the media does
