Martin was practicing the first amendment and applying his scientific medical knowledge to reach what turns out to be sound medical guidance. It does not appear that there was a debate from Harvard. There was only authoritarianism. There is a reason why Americans have lead the world in scientific discoveries. It was from people living in a free country that valued free speech, debate and the scientific method. Brilliant people from around the world would migrate here to advance their discoveries.

Thank you Vinay Prasad for writing such principled thoughts about this issue. Maybe we will actually learn something from this rather shameful episode in history. Personally I signed the Great Barrington Declaration on the day it was released - and to this day I cannot comprehend the smear campaign it received instead of scientific debate in good faith.
