It isn't even the individual ignorance of "those doctors." This is a widespread sentiment.

Check this out:

This is very much a thing. Remember when you got the chance to vote on it?

I'm healthy as a horse. One blood test I forgot to skip the cream in my coffee that morning and my HDL came in a bit higher than the "acceptable" range. Looking at my results through the portal I saw the boxed tip to the GP to "discuss statins" with patient.

My husband has bp that gets him lectured about beta blockers etc: 140/80. No sale: those drugs cause dementia over the long term My BP is 125/60, and now I'm reading that diastolic should be above 70 to avoid dementia from low blood flow. You either learn to kick the tires or you end up a lab rat.

I have a nearly identical experience (and BP, for that matter!) Husband and I were both given prescriptions for statins. Both had abdominal pain. NEITHER of us presented with actual health issues- just "bad HDL numbers."

I'm happy to kick the tires and refuse to be a lab rat. Authoritarians, especially ones in white lab coats (some of which hang around here) would like to make sure I don't have a choice about any of it, and are happy to call me an uneducated, mind-addled fool for my crimes of heresy.

If that were true, you wouldn't threaten our livelihoods , our children's development , our freedom, and our public and professional voice, and so on.

To say that public health is "fine with your refusal" is to say a serial killer is fine with his victims' screams of protest but slashes them all to bits just the same without mercy or exception.

The institutions you represent are "fine with" nothing less than total obedience or complete erasure.

We'll find out, won't we?

Since you're the one that opened the name-calling door first with your "vax and mask denier" schtick, it sounds like you're motivated by your own politics. That your username is nothing more than the letters after your name is pretty telling: your credentialism is your identity.

You also make tremendous assumptions that I am in any way hypocritical in my position. "That's not really your situation." Please, tell me more about my situation- you seem to have very specific insight as to my personal behavior and how it aligns with my worldview, knowledge, and skill set. What else do I do? Continue your caricature. What's my favorite ice cream? Who did I vote for? How tall am I? Tell me more about my intellectual inconsistencies.

You "represent solid science?" Like Fauci? When someone attacks "the science," they attack you?

That you completely ignore the main thrust of my complaints of gross overreach and human harm on an unprecedented scale due to PUBLIC HEALTH policy- you know, the "PH" in that MPH you so proudly flash around- and attempt to reduce the position to "well if you don't like doctors don't go to one" is quite a bit of "unmasking" on your part, as well. That you conflate anger towards coercive and non-consensual public health policy with rejecting science and being hostile to the mere concept of doctors says even more.

You don't "represent science." You are one little man reveling in his authority and enjoying the three-year summer of tyranny. What utter hubris in that statement.

But you go ahead and keep talking. You didn't manage to play by the "we don't need to bother debating each other" conclusion more than a few minutes, which tells me quite a bit about who YOU are- you need to pick fights with "civilians" that question you. "L'science, c'est moi."
