One additional thought, always consider cui bono, aside from the patients. In particular, a pharmaceutical or device manufacturer and the researchers dependent on their financial support.
While it may not be ready yet, I hope an algorithm can be developed for AI that will evaluate all medical research using the same criteria, so that human bias can be removed. But only humans can decide whether a difference between groups is clinically meaningful, especially at an individual (not population) level.
